Lots of things that we've been up to recently

PE
Last half term we finished off our gymnastics sessions having an explore of the apparatus. In this session they had the extra challenge of  balancing cones on their heads.

And other various parts of the body.

Or even multiple cones, why not, bring on the challenge.

Sports Relief
The years 6 children hosted a sports relief competition for all the children in the school.

They had to complete a variety of times skills such as step ups, hoop skipping, speed jumping, and ball bouncing.

Professor Poopenstinken
Some of you may be closer acquainted since the introduction of maths club. But prior to that we were treated to a sneak preview session, where we played an exciting game of shape bingo.

BINGO!!!

Easter bonnets
A lovely tradition event took place this year, the Easter Bonnet parade. You all made wonderful hats, we were one of the best represented classes. We stood up on the stage together to show off our creations.

Hopefully this will become a Sandridge School Tradition because the children had tons of fun.

Computing
We've started my favourite topic of the year in computing - coding! So far we've learnt a ton new vocabulary such as; ALGORITHM which is a fancy way of saying instructions for a computer, DEBUG which means to fix a mistake in an algorithm.

In this session we built a model using Duplo, then took pictures at each step. Then taught another group how to make their model by talking them through the pictures.

We became robots and needed algorithms to complete a program.

Music
We have been learning bring back my Bonny to me. Ms Kelly switched things up so the children had to stand and sit down on a certain letter. Can you work out which letter is the magic letter.

Science
Now we're learning about animals including humans in science. We started of by learning about the parts of the human body. To do this we attacked a member of the class with post it notes. (No children were harmed in the making of this lesson)

English
We have just finished writing up our stories of Little Red Riding Hood. What great writing they did.

First we listened to the story, making a story map as we went along so we could recount the story.

Try it at home, it starts with Once upon a time...(with an action like opening a book with your hands)

Then  we acted out the story using props.
