Summer term Plants topic

Welcome back for the Summer term
The children are enthusiastic about being  back in school and keen to share their knowledge of plants, which is our topic this half term.

Plant hunt
On Monday we went on a plant hunt. We found a variety of plants in the school grounds. The children were surprised that grass and trees were kinds of plants.

Art work
Today, the children drew their own plants using oil pastels. They looked carefully at the plants and thought about the shapes and colours. All the art work is displayed in the classroom and looks great!

Learning from Year 3
As Year 3 learnt about plants last term we invited them to come and share some of their work with us.

They took a flower apart and labelled all the different parts.
Four children from Year 3 did a role play to show us how a bee pollinates a flower.

It's lovely to see children bring in work that they have done at home, that relates to our topic. This is the type of show and tell that we would like to see because it gives the children an opportunity to learn from each other.
